"I started watching Phoebe's Facebook videos whilst scrolling around looking for something to fix my lethargy.What she was saying and how she was saying it made sense. I thought, well maybe this all makes sense and sounds reasonable, so I should give it a go.

I booked 1:1 sessions for myself as a kind of treat, but very aware of the work that would be involved. I knew I needed someone to look over my shoulder!

I joined Break the Yo-Yo in August 2023, thinking I would just do the eight-week challenge and I've not looked back since. This group has given me great support and accountability. I use food as an emotional crutch whether I am sad or happy and this group gives me a safe place to go to at any point I feel this coming on! I was the world's worst yo-yo dieter. I've tried ALL the slimming clubs like Weight Watchers Slimming World, Herbalife,Cambridge where I lost weight, but never addressed my using food for comfort problems. Joining Fat Loss Fundamentals' Break the Yo-Yo program has been the best decision I have made for myself in years. I joined when I was at the heaviest in my life, in menopause, and struggling personally on many levels.  Since joining, I have gained self-confidence, have a realistic approach to my personal health, made many new friends from all around the globe, and lastly, I have lost weight!Since joining the program, approximately 11 weeks ago, I have lost 20 pounds.  I have done this sensibly, and slowly.  I have not been excessively hungry or felt any sort of sacrifice or guilt in relation to my food choices. I have increased my exercise but have done so in a sensible and practical way that works for me.  I feel no pressure to perform or to lose weight, and instead feel the support to encourage me towards a healthy lifestyle.

My heart health has improved dramatically in 10 weeks, I am sleeping better, and what were almost daily headaches have disappeared. Last year, I finished the school year feeling exhausted and low. I was menopausal and contemplated quitting my job of over 30 years as a dance teacher as I couldn't give my students what they needed. After living alone for 12 years, ‘treats’ became the norm, I had no motivation to get moving and chose convenience over health. I needed to do something to improve my life before I became ill, so spent the summer reading and listening about menopause, nutrition, health as I was scrolling up popped Phoebe and one of her no nonsense videos.

What she was saying completely made sense, but I was reluctant to join yet another weight loss programme. She kept appearing on my feed, I knew I needed to act to improve my health, but the motivation wasn’t there. I took the plunge and decided to join the Break the Yo-Yo programme.I have done other online programmes – but what BTY has is a team who are present and accessible every day, ready to give you a kick when necessary. Break the Yo-Yo popped up just at the right time for me.

I had just taken early retirement and was thinking “I need to do something for myself.” I’ve always struggled with my weight and the guilt associated with it. Now, I have found a way of life that covers food and exercise in a way that really makes sense to me. Through the lessons I’ve learned from BTY, I can now be accountable for what I eat and the activities I do without giving up if I go off track a little. I’ve learned that one mistake doesn’t mean it’s time to give up.

I now understand the need for protein and the importance of it for my ageing body, muscles, and strength, and WOW that has been a big lesson for me! Also by paying attention to what I eat, I no longer have to reach for snacks because I rarely feel hungry in between meals. Unbelievable but true! I’ve also learned the need for planning ahead which reduces the possibility of being caught off guard. This also helps me with dealing with social situations so I can then plan what I want to eat and make it work for me! This way, nothing is off limits to me because I’ve already planned for it! In the past I’ve tried and failed at Slimming World and Weight Watchers because I wasn’t able to maintain what I was doing, and felt guilty when things went wrong.
